Legacy Business Grant – Washington, D.C.

Published On: September 2nd, 2022|

The Legacy Business Grant is offered by the city’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. It is designed for legacy business owners who have been operating in the District of Columbia for a minimum of 25 years and who wish to improve their business location or locations or expand into retail priority areas of the city. The grant is intended to help historic and longstanding small businesses retain their history, increase the city’s tax base, create new job opportunities for residents, and improve emerging commercial corridors. Potential grantees must be located in one of 13 city-designed “Great Streets,” which aim to improve the retail-serving community experience across the city’s eight wards. Grantees must also document the business’s historic significance and its impact on the city and immediate neighborhoods.
