What Are the Benefits of Being an SBAN Member?

SBAN fosters a community of advocates working to support small businesses and combat commercial gentrification and displacement. We equip members to better address critical issues impacting small businesses in their areas.

We offer members professional development opportunities, learning activities that support their work, and opportunities to connect with and learn from peers. We provide research expertise, practical resources, and coaching from SBAN experts.

We also elevate and promote our members’ work in our newsletter, social media, and other venues.

Support From SBAN Staff

We help members learn about and advocate for small business anti-displacement policies and practices.

SBAN staff help connect members to experts, resources, and other members doing similar work. We seek member feedback on useful programming and encourage members to share updates, news, and events with the network.

Member Community

We support connections and collaboration among our members.

Members have access to the SBAN member directory and member listserv, where they can ask questions, share resources, discuss challenges, and promote events. Members come together at our virtual summits, in-person conferences, site visits, and smaller in-person gatherings.

Conference and Summits

SBAN hosts a national in-person conference every other year and a virtual summit in the off years.

We convene to identify challenges facing small businesses and share knowledge about effective policies and practices. At our gatherings, members strategize ways to advocate for new policies across diverse regions.

Webinars

SBAN regularly hosts member-exclusive webinars on topics of common interest across the network, such as access to capital, commercial lease protections, antitrust policy, the changing DEI landscape, and utilizing small business data.
