Case Studies

SBAN supports case studies about small business anti-displacement strategies and how advocates are implementing these strategies in communities across the country and abroad.

For our first round of case studies in 2022, we awarded grants to 11 organizations, whose work culminated in the 2023 report Keeping Small Businesses In Place: Voices From the Field and the documentary film We’re Still Here

In 2024, our case studies will focus on community ownership, a long-term anti-displacement strategy that allows community members and stakeholders to control commercial assets, land, and enterprises. SBAN will publish these case studies in 2025.

Case study authors learn from other awardees, receive consultant support from SBAN experts, and present their work to the network and other stakeholders at SBAN events.
