Strategy in Action

The Northern California Procurement Technical Assistance Center (Norcal PTAC) provides services to all small businesses in the Northern California region but focuses particularly on underserved businesses such as women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and veteran owned businesses, and businesses located in low-wealth, rural, or disaster impacted areas. Norcal PTAC helps small businesses identify and obtain contracts with federal, state, local, and tribal agencies through free one-on-one counseling, networking opportunities, and other resources. Norcal PTAC is an example of one of the 90 Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) across the country. The PTAC network has more than 300 local offices and 600 dedicated procurement professionals who work to help local businesses

sell their products and services to government agencies. In 2019, the PTAC network served over 54,000 clients and assisted them with obtaining over $28 billion in government contracts and subcontracts.
