Strategy in Action

The Northeast Investment Cooperative (NEIC) is a first-of-its-kind real estate cooperative in the United States that buys and develops real estate and leases it to local businesses. The cooperative allows residents of Minnesota to invest and collectively buy, rehab, and manage commercial and residential property in Northeast Minneapolis. Community members are both owners and investors. NEIC looks for underutilized property to address pockets of disinvestment and vacancy in the community and raises capital from community members to buy and rehab commercial and residential property, improving the local economy.
