Working Groups
SBAN’s working groups convene members around specific anti-displacement topics and strategies to discuss challenges and successes of preserving small businesses in gentrifying neighborhoods. Groups are facilitated by experts in the field, including group members themselves.
In 2024, SBAN selected 14 organizations to be part of our Working Group on Community Ownership. Group members, all of whom are working on community ownership projects in cities across the United States and Canada, meet monthly July through December to workshop their own projects and learn more about accessing capital, engaging stakeholders and establishing shared governance, securing and supporting small business tenants, advancing community ownership policy, and more.
