Strategy in Action

The Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative (BCDI) is a community-led planning and economic development organization focused on shared wealth and ownership for low-income people of color. BCDI developed a community enterprise network model which connects community and labor organizations, anchor institutions, and small businesses. At the core of this model are six projects, the BronXchange, Economic Democracy Learning Center, Planning and Policy Lab, Bronx Innovation Factory, Civic Action Hub and Bronx Fund which coordinate critical economic actors, shift the ownership and governance of key assets to local residents, and ultimately, build shared wealth and ownership for low-income people of color.
