SBAN hosts conferences, workshops, and seminars. In 2022, our national conference will bring together small business leaders from across our network to identify the challenges facing small businesses in gentrifying neighborhoods, share knowledge about innovative policy and practice, and identify ways to push new policy in different regions. Multiple regional conferences are planned for the year following. Stay tuned for information about these and other upcoming virtual and in-person events.

SBAN Members-Only Webinar

New Markets Support Company (NMSC) provides collaborative financing solutions that bridge the gap between investors and underinvested communities. NMSC investment strategies focus on increasing access to healthcare, quality jobs, and wealth-building opportunities – especially those that help address racial inequities. The organization is a subsidiary of Local Initiatives Support Company (LISC), one of the largest community development organizations in the country, and a SBAN member organization.

Nzinga Broussard, Senior Manager of Research, and Daniel Brett, Vice President of Impact, will provide an overview of NMSC and discuss the funds they have co-created, deployed, and managed, with a focus on funds that build wealth by increasing access to asset ownership. They will also talk about a new fund they are developing to support entrepreneurs of color in acquiring commercial property.
