SBAN Board Members Part of New Effort to Support Micro-businesses Run by People of Color

Published On: November 22nd, 2021|

SBAN advisory board members Joyce Pisnanot, who is Deputy Director of The National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD), and Levar Martin, who is Chief Program Officer for the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), are part of a new effort to address challenges that prevent Asian American, Pacific Islander, Latinx, and Black entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs from starting and growing businesses, particularly given the impacts of COVID-19. The pandemic has worsened the financial health of small businesses run by people of color, particularly micro-businesses, which account for 95 percent of Black-owned businesses, 91 percent of Latino-owned businesses, and 91 percent of Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander-owned firms.
