The 2026 SBAN Summit on Preventing Climate Displacement will focus on equitable climate resilience and recovery strategies that keep small businesses in place. Co-hosted by the Gentrification & Urban Displacement Lab at the Boston University Initiative on Cities, the online summit will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on November 12 and 13.
SBAN relies on the generous support of our grantors, sponsors, and members to convene our network of small business anti-displacement advocates. Your sponsorship helps support solutions that keep small businesses thriving and in place.
What’s on the Summit Agenda?
- Inspiring national leaders at the forefront of climate resilience work will deliver keynote addresses.
- Small business advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders including SBAN leaders and members will lead discussions and workshops about how to build small business resilience, curb climate-related gentrification, and fight post-disaster displacement.
- Attendees will have opportunities to network and can use the summit app to connect with each other.
Who Attends SBAN Summits?
Our last online summit drew 275 attendees from across the U.S. and abroad, including SBAN members and non-members who are policymakers, nonprofit advocates, technical assistance providers, developers, financial institutions, scholars, and small business owners. The majority of SBAN summit attendees:
- Work at community-based organizations and local governments.
- Work with BIPOC- or immigrant-owned small businesses or on issues that impact those businesses directly.
- Say they connect with people or organizations at our summit that they want to communicate or collaborate with after the event.
What Do Summit Attendees Say?
“Panel and workshop discussions were extremely helpful and well coordinated. Every discussion had a variety of expertise and experiences, making each a unique conversation.”
—Attendee, 2024 SBAN Summit on Community Ownership
“The quality of the panel presentations was really impressive—the speakers were so knowledgeable and committed to the work. … SBAN has built such a powerful network of organizations and thought leaders. When we have reached out to other municipalities (often those we connect with via SBAN) for peer city research, we’ve been blown away by how collaborative and responsive everyone has been!”
—Attendee, 2024 SBAN Summit on Community Ownership
