SBAN Summit on Community Ownership, Nov. 14, 2024

Our 2024 summit focused on long-term solutions that allow community members and stakeholders to control commercial assets, land, and enterprises. Community ownership can provide stability for small businesses and keep them in place in gentrifying neighborhoods.

We brought together 275 attendees from across the U.S. and Canada to explore individual and collective ownership models that support BIPOC- and immigrant-owned small businesses and help them stay in place, including commercial cooperatives, community land trusts, community investment trusts, and commercial property acquisition funds.

We heard from small business advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved in community ownership efforts, discussed policy priorities, and thought about how to advance community ownership at multiple scales. We’ll also networked and shared resources.

Stay tuned for more information about our 2025 in-person conference!
